As the New Year unfolds, it brings with it the tradition of setting resolutions. These are promises we make to ourselves to improve our lives in various ways.
However, sticking to these resolutions can often be a challenge.

Trent: Co-founder and CEO
I have been setting achievable NY resolutions for 3 years in a row and am running at a 66% success rate.
My objective is to make them smart and short-term with the belief that it will improve their success rate.
This year's NY resolutions:
- Do 30 x 10-minute meditations in January
- No alcohol in January
- Compete 3 times in jiu-jitsu tournaments
I used to create resolutions that were too lofty and would be spread out over the medium term. But after I evaluated what I achieved it seems the short-term type worked better and created lasting improvements.
Dr Harry: Co-founder and medical advisor
I'm not really into New Year's resolutions. I prefer to make adjustments all through the year.
Each week, I dedicate some time to thinking about what I'm doing, what I want to do, and what I need to improve on.
I also think about what I need to drop from my life because more tasks are possible than time to do them!
One nugget I have for you, however, actually came from a patient of mine, a former special forces soldier. He said,
"If you rely on motivation, it's over. Discipline is what's needed".
How this pertains to keeping resolutions is obvious.

I've been attempting to read every day since mid-2020, so I guess this is a yearly goal? I am happy to renew this goal for 2024!
Every morning, before the world wakes up and the day's chaos begins, I dedicate some quiet time to dive into books.
I firmly believe that small, daily actions can lead to significant changes over time. It's all about those everyday habits that become an integral part of your routine.
Sipping on my KURK-infused morning coffee, taking a brisk morning walk, and, of course, dedicating time to read. These seemingly minor things add up to something big.
I do think that New Year's resolutions shouldn't always be about introducing something to your life. We have limited time in the day and we can't do everything. My advice is to reflect on what is important to you, and see if you can work something into your everyday that will help you achieve your goals.
Cherilyn: Content marketing manager
My approach to resolutions is to keep them achievable. I'd hate to put too much pressure on myself and then feel bad for not following through. So I start small and build from there.
Cooking is one of my favourite hobbies, so my resolutions this year are all about pushing myself to share that love with others.
I'd like to cook at more events, and I'm toying with the idea of starting a regular supper club or cookbook club. There's something special about gathering people around a table and feeding them something you've made with care.
I also want to reconnect with my Maltese heritage through food.
The key is choosing something so simple that it feels almost too easy. That's when you know you'll actually stick with it.
Stayz: Customer service manager
For me it's not about setting goals and gritting my teeth; it's about clearing space for growth.
Take my recent resolution for example. As a photography enthusiast, social media was my double-edged sword. Sure, it fuelled inspiration, but it also swallowed me whole in doomscrolling. Comparing my journey to curated snapshots made me feel like a speck in a world of shining stars.
So, I did the unthinkable: I ditched the socials. Bam! Instant mental detox. It's like I finally unblocked the creative pipeline within, and inspiration now flows freely without the need for external validation.
The lesson? For every resolution you plant, consider uprooting something that hinders its growth. It's a simple equation:
Resolution + Subtraction = Transformation.
This isn't about living in a tech-free cave. It's about mindful pruning, clearing away the brush to let your goals blossom. I highly recommend giving a tech break a go, especially if you're looking to boost your creativity.
