Tricia Sinclair: Pushing the Boundaries of What is Possible.
Tricia Sinclair, a former military member, is pushing the boundaries of what is possible whilst inspiring others to do the same. All in the name of REORG - a charity founded to help military and emergency service veterans transition using functional fitness to support their physical and emotional well-being. Tricia hopes to raise £30,000 for the charity by running a 250km Ultramarathon up Kilimanjaro.
Among her recovery protocol is Kurk to help manage inflammation and support optimal recovery.
Tricia will be running the Kilimanjaro Ultramarathon in Tanzania on June 12-16, 2023. This is a 250-kilometer, five-day race that will take her through some of the most beautiful and challenging terrain in the world.
Tricia has been training for this race for the past few months and is feeling confident that she’s ready for the challenge. She’s been running regularly and has also been doing strength training and cross-training to prepare for long distances and high altitudes.
“This will test my physical and mental resilience to push my boundaries. Nutrition and recovery are essential, Kurk has been helpng me sleep and so train better. Also, the inflammation in my knee is under control, so far so good!”
Some of the challenges she’s expecting to face:
The distance: The race is 250 kilometers long, which is equivalent to running 156 miles - nearly 6 marathons in 5 days! It is a real test of human endurance.
The altitude: The race takes place in Tanzania, which is a high-altitude country. The highest point on the course is 3,700 meters above sea level, which is equivalent to Mount Everest Base Camp.
The weather: The weather in Tanzania can be unpredictable. The race could be hot, cold, wet, or dry.
Some of the things Tricia is doing to prepare for the challenge:
Running regularly. Currently running 40-70 kilometers per week.
Strength training. Strength training helps to build muscle and prevent injuries.
Cross-training. Cross-training helps to improve her overall fitness and prevent boredom.
Staying hydrated. Hydration is essential for preventing dehydration and heatstroke.
Focusing on nutrition. She admits that this is one of the challenging parts for her. A healthy diet provides his body with the nutrients it needs to recover from training and race day but it's tough to get in enough calories!
Taking Kurk daily to regulate inflammation and support sleep and recovery.
Tricia hopes to raise £30,000 for REORG. REORG is a charity initiative aimed at helping those who who helped us including veterans, military and emergency services personnel.
